Keystone: A Certified Women-Owned Small Business
On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, Keystone became an officially certified Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) through the U.S. Small Business Administration, making us eligible to participate in the WOSB Federal Contract Program.
About the WOSB Program
Joining the WOSB program makes Keystone eligible to compete for federal contracts reserved for program participants. The program was designed to help provide a level playing field for women business owners by limiting competition on certain contracts known as “set-asides.” The program’s goal is to award at least 5% of all federal contracting dollars to WOSBs each year. According to data provider GovSpend, this number has hovered around 3.2% for the past five years. Of the $775 billion awarded in 2023, that’s literally billions of contract dollars potentially left on the table for businesses like us that have the WOSB certification.
How the Women-Owned Small Business Program Works
Contracts in the WOSB program are for goods and services in specific industries, identified by NAICS codes, that are underrepresented by WOSBs. These include our primary code, 332721 Precision Turned Product Manufacturing, as well as several secondary codes we have identified:
- 333517 Machine Tool Manufacturing
- 332722 Bolt, Nut, Screw, Rivet, and Washer Manufacturing
- 331221 Rolled Steel Shape Manufacturing
- 332510 Hardware Manufacturing
- 332721 Precision Turned Product Manufacturing
- 332114 Custom Roll Forming
- 332312 Fabricated Structural Metal Manufacturing
The program also provides resource partners to support navigating into the complex realm of federal contracts.
