Meet the Team: Rich Maholtz

Our People: Keystone Q&A

Rich Maholtz is a saw/utility operator at Keystone. We recently sat down with Rich to learn more about the motivation behind his 30 years of service both in and outside of the company.

Rich, it's been 30 years. What’s your motivation?

Providing for my family while feeling like a part of this family business (father & uncle at the time).

What have you achieved that you’re particularly proud of?

Growing with the company and learning everything and anything I can. Taking care of me during the pacemaker scare.

What's your advice for new employees at Keystone?

You can grow with this company as long as you put in the work.

If you could go back and give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

Enjoy the little things and open your mind to change. (Paper to technology!)

How did you get involved with the men’s homeless shelter, and what inspires you to keep going back?

My daughter had a college project. I keep going back because of the connection I have to the people there, my faith, and my mother-in-law; love; and True Freedom Ministry, a non-profit organization that reaches out to those in prison, the homeless, and others with otherwise limited access.

What challenges do people at the shelter face?

Just being down on their luck. I enjoy being able to make them feel some sense of humanity, even if it’s prayer, clothes, and some soup.

How can others help the shelter or other community efforts?

Volunteer in rain, snow, or shine every single Saturday.
